Democrats War on Small Business

 

Small business is being targeted again! Senate Bill 1 (Healthy Delaware Families Act) is the latest salvo fired by the Democratic Socialists that will attack and add to the burden of our small businesses in Delaware. 

This legislation will be introduced into the Delaware General Assembly in January 2022, which will mandate paid time off for all businesses and employees through a Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program.  It mirrors the federal legislation that has been working its way through Washington.  SB 1 will have devastating effects on small businesses and will require full compliance.  It includes payroll contributions of 0.8% into a fund for employees with no caps on earnings, no definition for what is required to request paid time off, and for taxes to be paid by all businesses. 

 The Colonial Region Republicans suggest small businesses should do the following:

  1. Review the legislation and share among the small business community any comments, concerns, or questions you may have. 
  2. Put together payroll data to share with legislators to show how much this will cost your company.  It is imperative the small business community statistically show the impact this legislation will have on their operations.
  3. We request you contact your State Representative to voice your concern: https://delaware.gov/topics/senateMap.shtml.  All 14 Democratic Senators are sponsors of this bill, which means they have enough votes to pass it already.  We must work on the House of Representatives to stop this from becoming law. 
  4. We urge small businesses and those concerned about the economic impact on the Delaware economy to support us in electing Republican candidates who will recognize the value to the Delaware economy by our small business community.

 Senators Hansen, Poore, and Ennis must be defeated. Eric Morrison and other radical Democratic members of the House will most certainly embrace this continued march to Socialism.
